Kyle and I decided to update our blog over the weekend, as you have most likely noticed. Nothing too fancy, just a little more personal. We thought it would be nice to include a picture of the boys in our header. Well, that was no easy task. The one above was the only decent one we had of the boys in the past few months. Yeah, there were a few from Christmas, but we're all getting spring fever and don't want the reminder of winter any longer. Believe me, the pent up energy we deal with each evening is reminder enough.
Thankfully this past weekend we were able to get out both days and soak up some much needed rays. We were still in jackets, but the boys had a blast outside. I think one of the last times we went outside to play, Kian had just decided to keep his shoes on. Boy, how he hated to wear shoes! Nowadays, he runs around and yells, "Shoes, shoes, shoes" knowing that a car ride shortly follows. We've been known to take him out on a car ride to get him to sleep. And what a champion sleeper he is in the car. I recall back in January there were a couple of days when he was down with pnemonia that Kyle would drive for hours at a time just so he could sleep. And mind you, it didn't matter what time of day or night it was, we (mostly Kyle) would drive him around just to sneak in a couple of winks. Those were the days when Kian wanted nothing to do with his father unless he was driving him around. Kian is definitely a "Momma's Boy" and there's no denying that. Here is the past couple of weeks he has decided that Kyle isn't that bad. He's actually asked Kyle to pick him up even when I'm standing next to him. My back and arms enjoy the break for sure!
So, back to this weekend. Sunday was such a nice day! We got up at the butt-crack-of-dawn, thanks to the boys. I believe Kian first woke up at 5am and refused to go to sleep even after I broke down and brought him into bed with us. We were all up by 6am to start the day. We broke down and let Jackson move into Kian's room on Saturday evening, so now they have a sleeping room and a toy room. And by the reaction we have from Jackson, sharing a room with Kian could possibly be the best thing to ever happen. He's been such a pleasure in the mornings and is quite cooperative. I think I like the change just as much. Kian on the other hand could care less that Jackson is in his room when it's time for bed. He just lays down falls asleep like a champ. So Sunday morning we decided to finish up the new toy room and purge some of the older toys. We had completed both rooms, ate breakfast, cleaned up, played for a while and done a load of laundry, and put Kian down for a nap all before 8am. It felt wonderful to have accomplished so much. Just before lunch, we decided to head on up to the northside and visit Kyle's Grandma Dessie (aka Nonnie). We visited for a while and had lunch with her. It as nice to see her again, since we last saw her at Christmas. Afterwards, we headed home to let the kiddos nap. Jackson actually took two naps this weekend. It is possible that hell is freezing over. And what do you know, he was in a good mood all weekend too! What a coincidence. He never believes us though. I ended up waking the boys so we could get outside for a while. We stayed outside for about 3 hours before we headed in to eat dinner. The boys actually wanted to go in much sooner, but we kept dragging them back out to play with all the other kids. It was nice to see everyone in the neighborhood again. I don't like that we get stuck inside for months at a time. Some of the girls even came out in their bikinis. Now, it wasn't that warm, but they evidently thought so. Jackson's relationship continued with Kylie next door as well. She was looking out the window and yelling for him to come over and talk. He was going back and forth playing with Athena and listening to what Kylie was saying. At one point, Kylie asked him to come in and take a shower with him. It was so cute, but oddly strange at the same time. I guess she was just so excited to see him outside again. She was able to come outside a little while after that to play with the other kids. Kyle did take the camera out to try to catch a photo or two of the boys together, but wasn't as successful as he had hoped. He did get some cute pictures. Once I take the time to download them, I'll get them up here to share. The boys were completely wiped out after the play time outside. They did sleep well that night, just as we had hoped.
I promise to get some pics up as soon as my time allows. Maybe tonight if I get the extra energy.
Until next time, lc
